HUNGER STALKS KARUTHAMMA !

Please meet KARUTHAMMA. Her husband’s name is KANNAN. She is from Thrikkakara but living with her husband in Eroor. She is 77 and her husband is 85. Her husband is very sick and he cannot work. They have no children. They had some property which was sold to meet the medical expenses of her husband. Her relatives are not interested in her. She herself suffers from back aches. She has few goats which she sells to get some money. Many days in a month she has no money and no food. Sometimes kindly neighbors give her some food and some times some old clothes.

When I started talking to her, she wanted to pour out all her sorrows. She talked and talked and I only had to listen. I was drowning in her sorrows. I couldn’t bear it any more. Finally I took out a Rs.50 (US$1) from my purse and gave it to her. She took it with immense gratitude and I could see a big tear drop falling from her eyes. She blessed me several times.

I walked away with a heavy heart.

May God bless her and help her.

MARKETING JARGONS UNRAVELLED

You don't have to go to Harward Business School or IIM'S to know the meaning of the jargons used by marketeers to befuddle and confound us. Here is an explanation in very simple words. As you laugh, the meanings will become clear to you.ENJOY!

You see a gorgeous girl at a party.
You go up to her and say:"I am very rich. Marry me!"
That's Direct Marketing
One of your friends goes up to her and pointing at you says:"He's very rich. Marry him."
That's Advertising.
You go up to her and get her telephone number.
The next day you call and say:"Hi, I'm very rich. Marry me."
That's Tele-marketing.
You get up and straighten your tie; you walk up to her and pour her a drink.
You open the door for her, pick up her bag after she drops it, offer her a ride.
You then say:"By the way, I'm very rich "Will you marry me?"
That's Public Relations.
She walks up to you and says:"You are very rich..."
That's Brand Recognition.
You go up to her and say:"I'm rich. Marry me."
She gives you a nice hard slap on your face.
That's Customer Feedback.

ST. MARY'S BASILICA, KOCHI

This Basilica is located in market road, Kochi. When I am in the vicinity, I go to pray here and ask for favors. Sometimes when I am not in a mood to pray, I sit here quietly to soak in the calm, peaceful atmosphere which gives me an immense calm feeling and serenity of mind.

I am posting some photos.. You can pray if you want or just enjoy the beauty of the place.

Oh yes, I nearly forgot! You can make your three wishes!

MEHNDI CEREMONY

I was invited by a Muslim family to attend Mehndi ceremony of their daughter. This ceremony was held on the previous evening of the wedding day. I am posting some photos of the enjoyable, enchanting, enthralling evening with music, singing, dancing and plenty of excellent food. ENJOY!

A PHOTO OF MY NIECE’S HANDS, SHINY JAMES PULIKOTIL, IS ALSO THERE. TRY IF YOU CAN IDENTIFY IT.
Best wishes

Mehndi is the application of Henna as a temporary form of skin decoration in South Asia, the Southwest Asia, North Africa and the Horn of Africa, as well as by expatriate communities from these areas. Mehndi decorations became fashionable in the West in the late 1990s, where they are sometimes called henna tattoos.
In Kerala henna is known as mylanchi and widely used by the Muslim community. Henna is typically applied during special occasions like weddings and festivals. It is usually drawn on the palms and feet, where the color will be darkest because the skin contains higher levels of keratin which binds temporarily to lawsone, the colorant of henna. Henna was used as a form of decoration mainly for brides.

SUBHASH BOSE PARK, KOCHI

Hello Friends,

Greetings!

Let’s go for a walk in a park. Walking is good for health and is prescribed by doctors for most ailments.

In the heart of Kochi, we have a lovely park. It is called Subhash Bose Park. It is named after our famous freedom fighter, Subhash Chandra Bose. While Mahatma Gandhi was organizing a non violent movement to get freedom, Subash was raising an army to fight the British which never materialized because he died in an air crash.

Here are some beautiful spots in the Park for your visual treat.

I hope a brisk walk will become part of your daily routine.
