My second son, Angelo, is working as a software engineer in Trivandrum Techno Park. There was Onam celebratiions in his office. You can see them wearing traditional dresses, flower carpet(POOKKALAM), traditional lamp, eating food (ONASADHYA) in the traditional style on a plantain leaf. Please click on the photos for a large lovely view.

Hello dear Joseph. Wow! What beautiful decorations and costumes. I am assuming Onam is an Indian holiday? I have never heard of it before. Your son is very handsome, you must be so proud.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures. It looks like it was a time of wonderful celebration for your son and his co-workers too!

God bless you my friend!

Hi Joseph,
What a handsome man Angelo is. I'm sure you must be very proud of him. It is good to see he has a valuable job in the midst of economic hardships. It may be that Onam is somewhat like George Washington or Lincoln is looked up to in our culture. Very festive and beautiful photos.
God bless,
Fred

It is good to have a break from the office tedium for a little sharing in the celebration. They look like a happy group. Thanks for letting us peer into your life.

O wow that looks very civilized.

The other day (I was going to post it but forgot) there was some kind of Sikh celebration right near my house. Crowds of Indians in pure white clothes, men and women separate sides... I didn't ask what/why they were doing, didn't want to disturb, but it seemed fascinating.

Many thanks for the kind comment at mine ;->...

Hi Brian:)

This is a feast to celebrate the memory of the legendary king Mahabali under whose rule there was no poverty, sickness, misery, suffering, homelessness etc. and people lived very happily.

Hello Joseph!

Thank you for your kind words to my blog. It is very uplifting. As to the quote you posted by A J Cronin, I agree completely. Life is EXACTLY like a maze. Each turn or twist is different and unique Either leading you to a dead end or another fork in the road. But one thing they have in common is the fact that each one is your choice.

I am an excessive video game player and in the game I am in now,
there is a helper who uncovers hidden obstacles for you. Click on something using her and she tells you about it. Just like this character, God is our guide showing us things that we cannot see. Helping us decide which is bad and which is good.

The quote is helpful and mind tickling. I am looking forward to dechiphering it more. As for my mom and myself, all is well. The issues our family have been experiencing in the past are finally balancing and our lives our once again at peace, for now. The only thing predictable about life is it's unpredictability.

When I lose sight of God's love, I have but to close my eyes and freefall into the abyss of my worries to see that he has already caught me.

I look forward to talking to you more, your friend,

Linnea

Hi Scarlet:)

Greetings:)

I am thrilled and delighted to meet you. You were here for 6 long years. Amazing. What a pity we couldn't meet. Where were you staying? You came here for doing some research or studies?

You are right. They are banana leaves. Normally about 16 varieties of items are served on those leaves. Two or three varieties of Payasams are also served.

Celeste, my blogger friend from Madrid, was also here in Kochi for a holiday. She also loved Kerala.

I am fascinated that I could find you. The world is really small:)

Have a wonderful day Scarlet:)

Hi Linnea:)

I am glad you liked the quote and you could draw some inspiration from it. I have read this quote many times and it is one of my all time favorites. It has given me consolation and peace of mind in my own trials and tribulations and showed me a way to cope with my own fears.

Shakespeare said--PRESENT FEARS ARE LESS FEARFUL THAN FEARFUL IMAGININGS. It is always our imagination that creates havoc about an impending disaster whereas the disaster itself is not as bad as we imagined it to be. As human beings we are always resourceful and will always find a way to get out of even the most difficult situation by our own ingenuity and God's help.

Prayer is essential because there is immeasurable power in it. Prayers are always answered.

I am happy to hear about the peace prevailing at your home and hope and pray everything will be sorted out fast. Best wishes to your mom.

Your knowledge, erudition and deep insight into life amazes me. I admire you.

I enjoy reading what you write in your blog and I examine my own life based on what you write. It is very helpful to get a fresh insight from you.

Have a wonderful Sunday Linnea:)
