TO DAY IS WORLD HEART DAY

Today (27th Sept, 2009) is celebrated as World Heart Day . In this connection, yesterday a function was organised at Durbar Hall grounds and many prominent doctors and other eminent citizens graced the occasiion. Malayalam film actor Jayaram was the chied guest.

The function started with a prayer song.

Lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

Doctors who spoke on the occasion gave several tips to keep the heart healthy. Some of the main things they listed out are as follows:

Do not smoke.
Avoid fatty and oily foods.
Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits.
Exercise every day or at leaSt go for long walks.
Avoid over eating.

Prevention is better than cure. The cost of treatment for heart ailments is very high.

There was a musical performance and we were treated to several old Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi songs. Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure. Please click on the photos for a large lovely view.

Jayaram singing a Malayalam song.

Heart is a favorite word and we use it in connection with so many things. Sweet heart, heart throb, heart ache, heart strings, heart wrenching, brave heart and so on. Let us take care of the heart otherwise it will become a problem heart, a sick heart and heart attack.

I can add another word to your list of "Heart words" that is "Broken"

Keep well and happy.

joseph,

great post. our heart is often negelected, but physically and figuratively. omething we dont take time to care for until it is broken. carelessly given away at times, and others not tended with doses of forgiveness. nice pics as always. what colors.

What a wonderful thought, to have a heart which beats for the whole world, what a wonderful serial of photography - convincing me that it might be even true; so I better be silent now and listen for the sound of its beat.
A wonderful start into the new week for you.

Hi Joseph,
Very interesting post and one that should be heeded. My father died at age 41 or a heart attack, and sadly he violated all the health tips posted. I have outlived him by 21 years now and I'm sure it is because I try and follow good heart health practices more closely than he.
Great post, interesting photos,
Fred

Hello dear Joseph, I did not know there was a World Heart Day, what a wonderful thing! It looks like a beautiful celebration that you had there and for a wonderful cause. We should all be reminded often how important it is to keep a healthy heart, as we do rely on it for so much in life!

God bless my friend!

The book of Proverbs in the Bible says; Guard your heart for from it flows the streams of life.

Its true both spiritually and physically.

Real good function to attend - teaching combined with entertainment. Like the decorations on the stage.

I have a BP problem so i have to cautious too.

Very nice post of a very worthy event. I wish I could have heard the music. My oldest brother is experiencing congestive heart failure. It is a very difficult passage which could have been avoided. Thank you for shing a light on this issue.

Breathe in gratitude.
Exercise forgiveness.
Walk with the beauty of the heavens.
Feel the bounty of the earth.
Hug heart to heart.

With heart,

Life, flowing in and out
Its hope, the last to die
Fragile, as if it was made of glass.

Yet, it beats on and on. With this new month I'd like to wish you all the very best.
Due to the misbehaviour of a few with my pictures I had to close the former blog. However would be more than honoured to see you again at:

All the very best for you !

Hi Joseph, many thanks for your visit and comforting comment.
My son won'tspeak because I missed going over in August......I missed the flight. He knows nothing of my tests as he says he don't have a mother, I did write an email but no reply. I have the support of my eldest son and daughter who are brilliant.
Once again thank you it cheered me .

Yvonne.

Good Morning Joseph, thanks for stopping by my other photo page. :o) I had to laugh at your comments about my son on the ride. He was having fun riding on all the "little kids" rides even though he was "much too old" for them. He went on as many baby rides as he could while I took pictures of him on them. It was pretty funny and we had a good time goofing off. That day had been pretty stressfull for us, so that was sort of a reprieve from all of the other stuff that was going on. Those photos are about a year ago, so he has changed alot since then. The ones with us in front of the mountains together are more current. Anyways, glad you stopped by to check stuff out. Hopefully I will be able to get some newer ones up soon. Have a wonderful day Joseph and God Bless...Kat

Very informative - a reminder too. Just don't bother unless problems arise. Most of us are like that. Thanks for your write up.

Hi Rema:)

I agree with you. Most of us don't bother about taking care of the heart and sometimes we end up spending quite a lot of money in medical bills.

Have a nice day Rema:)
