COCHIN CARNIVAL

Some of you associated with Kerala like Rema,Sindhu and Ram guessed correctly. Those people in my previous post were waiting for the Cochin Carnival parade which is held once a year in Fort Cochin on the 1st of January. Many of them had come hours before to occupy vantage positions. The crowd was indeed huge and the police had a tough time controlling the crowd. Not that there were any untoward incidents but the people were getting in the way of the parade and hindering smooth flow. The air was elctrifying, the excitement was unbridled and the festive mood filled everywhere. I am posting some photos for your viewing pleasure.

PLEASE CLICK ON THE PHOTOS FOR A LARGE LOVELY VIEW.

TO BE CONTINUED:)

Cool it worked. Anyway, this site brings up curious insight. It is one opinion, but is worth researching. Oh , thanks for your comments on rising costs. It's good to see you fired up. A man with strong convictions.

Great pics. This kinda reminds of the Mardi Gras festival that takes places in New Orleans, Louisana. It is usually in the month of February. I love carnivals, parades, or just any type of festivities.

Hi Rema:)

Many thanks for your comment. It is worth seeing this carnival although there is a huge crowd.
I have more photos to be posted but since sky rocketing prices have become a serious issue affecting people like you and me, I thought I will write a poston galloping prices and continue with the carnival photos later.

Best wishes:)
Joseph

It is many years since I was a proper carnival. Your pictures are awash with colour and joyfulness and the 'blue' men really stood out. Thank you for sharing this happy occasion.

The colour and the crowd participation are visible in these beautiful photographs and that is what makes carnivals worth it. Thanks for sharing these photographs of the Cochin Carnival.

Cool. I liked the photographs that had the traditional band, the mask and the remnants from the Avatar movie.

As I mentioned in your most recent post (aerial view of Kochi) I was in Kochi during my honeymoon. It was somewhere close to Dec 15. Perhaps if I had pushed to the last week of Dec I could have stayed for the new year to watch this unique extravaganza.
