COCHIN CARNIVAL-continued

Initially I was standing behind the crowd and taking photos. This meant I had to hold my camera above people's heads to get a photo. I found this quite difficult. Besides darkness was descending upon Kochi. So if have to get a photo I had to use the flash.I pushed myself through the crowd and managed to get close to the floats. Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure. Please click on the photos for a larger view.

The make up artists must be very busy with the festival.

I like the men dressed like Egyptian figures.

A carnival in the U.S. is similar to the circus or fair without all the animals. All ride and exibit for entertainment. On the other hand your concept of carnival not only entertains, is also a celebration?and maybe more seeing the costumes with possible symbolism. Can you enlighten me some?

Wow! This carnival is a splendid mixture of the most revered people/things from all over the world. I saw the Zoozoos as well! That is quite nice.

You took pains to get those photographs getting up so close and the photographs have come out very nicely. I am sure that is a good compensation for all the effort. Thanks for sharing them here.
