FATHER AND DAUGHTER!

A father and daughter walking on the foot path would have normally escaped my attention. But somehow the sight of this struck me as very special and rare sight.

How many grown up daughters hold the hands of their fathers and walk happily, chatting, laughing on the road oblivious of the public stare?

How many grown up children walk with their father holding hands?

How many grown up children ignore their fathers?

How many grown up children refuse to go with their fathers anywhere?

Away in a manger, no crib for His bed,

The stars in the sky looked down where He lay

The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the poor Baby wakes,

MERRY CHRISTMAS

What is the meaning of Christmas?

It does not mean decorations, colorful lights, stars, cribs, carols, good food, greeting cards, Christmas tree, giving presents and Santa Claus.

It means God sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us from our sins,
save us from eternal death and give us everlasting life.

This is what I understand.

SHINY JAMES PULIKOTIL, MY NIECE

These are some photos taken at the engagement ceremony of Shiny, my niece. She did her chemical engineering degree in Chennai, India and her post graduation in Germany with petroleum and oil drilling as a special subject. She is one of the few girls in the world who has done a specialized study in oil drilling. After she came back from Germany, her parents arranged her marriage. The groom, Paul, who is also a chemical engineer, is working as manger in Reliance Petroleum Co.

Shiny put her ambition of pursuing a working career on the back burner and decided to get married in obedience to her parents wish.

She looks very pretty, elegant, graceful, intelligent and homely in that bewitching saree and all those gold ornaments adorning her. However, I am sure, behind this gorgeous, charming façade lurks a feline ferocity which will be unleashed in disagreeable circumstances.

I wonder if she will be more at ease in jeans and slacks. But customs and traditions have to be meticulously followed. There is a saying: WHEN YOU ARE IN ROME, DO AS THE ROMANS DO.

INEQUALITY OF THE SEXES?

You will notice from the above two photos that the girls are sitting in chairs and the boys are sitting on the floor. There is one vacant chair in the front row next to a girl. When I told one of the boys to sit in the vacant chair, he refused.. When I told the teacher to make one boy sit in the chair, she gave me a vacant look and walked away. The students came to see a documentary on Global warming. There were fans above the girls’ chairs and no fan for the boys. The girls watched the documentary comfortably while the boys were sweating, restless and were waiting for the documentary to get over fast.

What do you think is the problem here?

What will happen if a boy sits in the vacant chair or if the boys and girls sat in chairs and watched the documentary?

Is the school drilling into the minds of these students the inequality of the sexes?
