GOD'S MARVELS - THE SUN

Once I was traveling from Kochi to Chennai by train. An Israeli tourist was sitting next to me. He was looking out of the window constantly. I tried to make a conversation. He just mumbled a word or two and continued to look outside. Although this puzzled me, I left him alone wondering what was there to look so much outside. When the sunlight faded and it became dark outside, he looked at me and smiled. He said now he was prepared to talk. I asked him what was there that he had to look outside continuously. He said there is so much beauty and wonder out there which can be appreciated only in day light. In the dark nothing can be seen and therefore he is prepared to talk and enjoy a friendly conversation.

At that time this statement of the tourist sounded foolish to me. I was always a man of hurry. I always wanted to get things done yesterday. I was worried about business, job security, big savings bank account and future. I spent almost 35 years in this fashion. I was not interested in enjoying the beauty around me. I had no time to appreciate the wonders God spread before me.

Now that I have started blogging and using a camera to substantiate my statements, I fully appreciate the wisdom of that Israeli tourist. Here are some photos of the sun and sunlight for you to enjoy. Please click on the photos to get a larger view.

Sunlight chasing the bird.

Sunlight on the tree.

Old man watching the sun set.

Sun playing hide and seek.

Sun light glittering on the waves.

Sunlight on the tall building. This building mainly houses IT companies.

Sunlight on the stall owner.

Sunlight on the sea water

Sun light on one of the cannons on the fort with which the British fought their enemies in the sea.

If you want some sun light you can come to Kochi. I will serve it for breakfast, lunch and evening tea. If you want more, I will fill it in a gunny bag for you to carry home.
Best wishes.

Thanks so much Joseph, you'll be our "Isreali tourist" sharing your wisdom with us.
From the beginning of my participation to Sky Watch Friday, I started to look at our sky differently. Previously, I rarely look at the sky attentively. Nowadays with or without camera at hand, I see so many beauties in it.
It's exactly the same process as yours. From the sky, I began to enlarge my vision to the whole things that surround me.

Your pictures are wonderful. They illustrate perfectly your post.
I especially like the one with the stall. It's a slice of life, we could say a slice of sun for who knows watching details. A zest of a lemon as a sunray.

The sunlight glittering on the waves is my favorite one. I live very close to the ocean and in decent weather I will bring a book and watch the endless ocean, the frothing whitecaps, more than I read.

I spent many years working very hard to "take care" of things, but missed the sunlight and the frothing whitecaps at times, I am afraid. I understand what that tourist was saying as well. ~Mary

Hi Joseph,
A delightful portfolio! I have no type large enough to exclaim my desire for some warm weather. The sun glistening off the ocean is just breath-taking.
I can so relate with your comments about being "a man of hurry", and if age has its downside, certainly learning to slow down and enjoy God's beauty is one of the upsides. Great pictures, and that fella standing in front of his street-side shop with sun on his face is intriguing.
God bless,
Fred

What a good parable. And with great pictures!! Whatever we see today is more than we saw yesterday. And whatever we see right now -- and capture with our camera -- will never exist again in exactly the same way. We must spend time with it.

PAckage sunlight? If you run out of stock, just leave a message!. Great pics of nature. Only the IT building is a mismatch! :)

Hi Sir Joseph, enjoyed your bright sunny theme and photos. The ones by the sea are most alluring.I love the seaside.

The tourist must have been a very intense man to focus on something without talking. I am a chatterbox.

My camera also has helped me discover a lot of the world around me for myself.

Dear Joseph, thank you very much for taking that walk with me through Vienna. I feel like we had taken that walk together :)
And we had some really good laughs when reading your story!!!
I understand that you don't want to go by Fiaker coach ;))
The horse you want to ride belongs to Archduke Karl who rode against Napoleon. That horse brought him the victory! Thank you for the burger :)))
Joseph, your comments are sooo nice and heartwarming and I sit here with a big big smile! Thank you so very much!

Hi Joseph,

The tourist sums it well. I hardly sleep when I'm travelling from one place to another. You'll never know what you'd miss.

Have a beautiful day! :-)

Wow, Joseph -- more great photos! Thanks for sharing pictures of the sun and the warm days in your homeland. Here in Spokane is is snowy and cold -- Spring has started but the weather is still wintery! As I snow piles up on the ground, your pictures remind me that the warm sun still exists, and will soon make her presence known even here in the cold frozen north.

Hope!

Cheers!
