MY NIECE, SHINY JAMES PULIKOTIL - WEDDING

Here are some photos of the wedding of my niece, SHINY JAMES PULIKOTIL. She is a Syrian Catholic and the groom is Syrian Jacobite. The wedding took place in a Syrian Jacobite Church.

Kindly bless her and wish her all happiness.

Congratulations, Shiny! Congratulations, Joseph! How exciting! May the Lord bless Shiny and her husband with long lives full of good health, peace and prosperity. I have one question… Why are they not smiling? Is it customary to look so somber in wedding photos?

Bless you, Joseph! :)

Hi Mel :)

I think they are not smiling because it is an arranged marriage and they hardly know each other. Besides no one told them to smile and every one wanted to go through the formalities as fast as possible. The mass itself takes one long hour. Shiny is not used to the type of mass that is being said in the church because she is a Roman Catholic and the wedding took place in a Syrian Jacobite Church.

Many thanks for your comment and your query.

Best wishes :)

Hi Joseph,
Your niece is very beautiful and a handsome groom as well. As you know in our culture we have no arranged marriages and it is a interesting and difficult concept to fathom. I wonder if the success rate is better than ours, which is a dismal 50%. I hope the best for them and may they grow in love and respect for each other.
God bless,
Fred

It's wonderful to get to know different kinds of ceremonies around the world. It's incredible the way in which human beings share desires and the different manifestation of them.
Thanks so much Joseph for opening this wonderful window of your country and culture. I respect and enjoy it very much.
Saludos from Mexico,

This is fascinating. What is a Jacobite? Do Christians in that part of the world also have arranged marriages? Mel, I wonder if that's why they are not smiling, maybe it is arranged and they don't know each other. Very interesting blend of Indian Sari and Christian white veil and bride's bouquet of flowers.

OOOPSSS
Nevermind my questions. I read more of the comments and yes, they look like arranged marriage. I didn't know Christians did that. I don't think I could do it. I don't understand how people can do it at all. So foreign to me. I hope they will soon fall in love and will be ALL SMILES by their first anniversary. Is Shiny your daughter? BEAUTIFUL MIXING OF CULTURES/RELIGIONS!
FCB...the rate of divorce is almost nil in arranged marriages, but that does not mean they are happily married. My husband comes from a culture of arranged marriages and he had the courage to choose his own bride, ME! lol.
Blessings, Sheila/Bluebirdy

Hi Shiela :)

The Jacobite Syrian Church is part of Syriac Orthodox Church which was established by St.Peter in the year 37 A.D. in Antioch. The Patriarch of this church is in Antioch. It was brought to India by St. Thomas in 52A.D.

Best wishes :)

Hi Fred :)

Most of the marriages in India are arranged marriages. These marriages generally last a life time not because these are couples are very happy but because of economic necessity and the dependence of woman on the man for support.

Best wishes :)
